Amazing Optical Laminar Water Jet. Cool laminar effect with a light thru the water stream. Color Changing Light cycles thru water stream for an amazing effect. I use one in my pool and its awesome at night. This is new redesigned water jet for 2019. You can use without the lights during the day, just keep the light unplugged. What do you need? A hose or plastic tube (read below). A clean water source (usually a pool) You can use a pond but you will probably need to open the water jet more frequently to rinse the internal filters unless your pond is really clean. Some of the questions I have received about this I will answer here. This is a color changing light that stays inside the water stream. There is no remote control. You cannot keep it on one color nor can you change the pattern of colors, it cycles automatically. In the future we may have single colors available or remote controlled lights that can be used to make patterns but as of today we do not. Light stays inside the water stream!! .. Looks like its in a tube but its not! You can run your hand through the stream and “light” up your hand as the water hits it!! Looks great in a pool or pond! Lights up the pool water where it hits (not sure about ponds as pool water is very clear). What you will get. The laminar water jet. 33′ feet of cable with a plug in transformer (for the light). The pump: I can sell you a pump. You are better off getting your own pump locally if you can. You can use a ball valve to control the flow rate to the water jet because if you exceed the 8 to 9 foot max stream the light will start to fade. The pump I sell has a flow rate of about 1056 GPH The pump I sell assumes you are using about 10 feet of tubing. The further away the water jet , the longer the tubing, the more pumping power you need. PLEASE THINK THIS THROUGH! You dont want to have to little, and you do not want to have too much. An adjustable flow rate pump is one suggestion, another is a tee with a ball valve A tee is connection that allows water to flow in 2 directions.. What I do is I have a tee.. One side goes into my pool, the other to my water jet. When my ball valve is CLOSED, all the water goes into my POOL. When I start OPEN my ball valve some of the water starts to flow to my water jet. When I find the sweet spot (usually around 3/4 open) my water jet shoots a perfect water stream. And thats the trick.. You cannot send to much water into the water jet or you will not get a prefect stream, it will break up. A clear or braided 1 (1 inch) plastic tubing to run from the pump to the water jet. The water jet will shoot about 8 feet before it starts to lose the light, any longer stream and the light will not travel the entire distance. So figure 6 to 10 feet of tubing depending on where your body of water is and where you set the angle/arc of the jet. Of course you can go longer with the tubing, but keep in mind the further you go the more pump power you will need to get the water flow right. For example if you pump from 50 feet away to the this device you will need a higher flow rate. How does it work? Connecting one end of a hose to the water jet intake, another end to a water pump, water from pump goes through the jet and shoots back to the pool or pond. You can adjust the angle of this water jet to achieve a higher or lower jet stream. Amazing total internal reflection of light in a circle water jet. A jet of water “traps” light, just like an optical fiber. Connecting to a pump (included), this optical water jet can shoot up to 8′ across and is still keeping in shape and clear like a glass tube. Light travels from the jet LED source all way to the touching down splashing spot without loosing much light. The water jet comes with a 5W LED light which runs on AC 12V (low voltage). The jet itself needs no electric power (other then the pump to bring the water to it) to shoot and can be run in the daytime to shoot a clear stream. The cord for the LED light will be about 33 feet long so you have plenty of options on where to plug it in when you want to run it at night. Quality: The housing is made of a low rated stainless steel. The top has screws that can be used to open the unit to wash and rinse out the inside filters if necessary and to change the LED light (unlikely since LEDs last a long time). You will need place the pump inside body of water, if its in a pool, you can hang the pump from the ledge, but please do not swim while a pump is pumping from inside your pool , its not worth the small chance of a malfunction and electricity flowing directly in a pool while you or your loved ones are swimming! You can also place the pump inside a plastic bucket and let the bucket sit on the bottom of your pool – if you have a vinyl liner this is the best bet so that the pump does not “pull” on your liner. If you are handy then you can hook this up to your existing pool pump system, but this will require extra effort on your part. That is what I did with my pool, using. Ball valves and tee’s (all from Home Depot) I now use my 1 HP pool pump to operate the water jet. Using ball valves I can adjust the flow rate from my pool pump to the water jet while also filtering the pool. When I do not want to use the jet I redirect the pump flow to filter the pool. If you think it through it is really quite easy to achieve. Basically you want to able to control the flow rate to the water jet – if you send to much flow (pressure) it will probably blow off the hose connection and if it doesnt the jet stream will be too long -you need to control this when tying into your pool pump system – thus the ball valves (for my pool I use about 50/50 ratio – that is half the water to the jet and the other half back into the pool). If you think it through and plan it out its not difficult. You can hide this behind a shrub or under a deck, the possibilities are endless. I have my own water jet behind my pool so all you see is a stream of color changing water, you don’t see the unit at all! This braided tubing works great, flexible yet strong enough and fits the 1 connection on the pump and the jet, I bought the tube in Home Depot by the foot.
